The cardboard box

Question: What would you do if your house was actually a cardboard box?

Answer: Imagine. You’ve got a house and it’s a cardboard box. (Also imagine you’re a man of approximately 35-40 years old.) You once lived in a house built of real bricks, but now you’re poor and you can only afford a cardboard box. You’ve got children and they have to rent their own room in the box and pay the rent with their pocket money. You also had a wife, but she needed some privacy (when you live in a cardboard box you have no roof, so it’s very probable that someone sees you) and went to live with a guy called Mark, who has air conditioning in his house for on a very hot summer’s day and heating for on a very cold winter’s day. Sad, sad story. Once in a while, your former wife visits you with Mark, to see if you haven’t been frozen or boiled yet. And of course to bring you your children, because you do co-parenting. You don’t have work, because you don’t know the outcome of 2+2 and you’re too proud to pick up someone else’s garbage. Sometimes you’re quite bored, since there’s no computer nor playstation nor a connection for either of those two in your – you know it – cardboard box. That’s how life looks like if you have an ex-wife, at least two children and a cardboard box.

PS: no hard feelings, it’s just a useless story of someone who’s had a mental breakdown and has too much time.

That’s a rather depressing thing to imagine really. When it came to repairs you would have to steal other bits of cardboard from homeless people.

Indeed. But is it wrong that that sounds funny to me? Can I please have your permission to laugh?

This is the Internet my dear – the more wrong something is, the more right it is!

You may briefly laugh but don’t overdo it. You might wake the babies in their flowerpots.

I’ll try to keep it down!

We’ve already established that you live in a bucket so it’s probably not too hard for you to imagine this.
